If you’re looking to get into the habit of reading more books, setting a goal to read a book a month is a great place to get started! It may seem intimidating at first, but don’t fret. With the proper planning and some effort, you’ll be a budding bibliophile in no time.
Pick a Book
If you aren’t quite sure what book to pick out and read first, head over to your laptop and do some research. Browse the different genres and authors, and figure out what captures your attention the most. Once you’ve picked out your book of the month, decide on what format you’d like to read it in. You can either choose between an eBook, physical copy, or an audiobook.
Set Scheduled Reading Times
This is the most crucial step to take if you truly want to meet your goal of reading a book a month. Schedule out time blocks for you to read. Pick the times that are best for your day to day, and make sure you stick with it. If you need to, try buying yourself a planner that will help you accomplish your reading goals!
Have an Accountability Partner
Do you have a friend who loves to read as well? Try asking your friend if they’ll be your accountability partner, and if they’ll help you meet your goals. Who knows, maybe you guys could take on this challenge together and have a ton of fun in the process.
Get Into the Habit of Doing It
Once you meet your reading goal for the first time, it actually gets easier doing it again the next time around. Get into the habit of reading one new book each month. You’ll be amazed at how much more you’ll learn to love reading. And once you’re ready, you could even move onto reading two books each month.
Congrats! Now you’re on your way to reading more frequently. And for an added bonus, if you’d like to keep track of the books you’ve read, sign up for Goodreads. Goodreads will help you keep track of books you’re reading, books you want to read, and mark the books that you’ve already read!
